Melio to Join Xero: Supercharging accounting and payments

Today marks a pivotal moment in Melio’s journey. I’m excited to announce that Melio has agreed to be acquired by Xero, a global small business platform. By combining Xero’s powerful cloud accounting platform with Melio’s SMB bill payments platform, we’re unlocking even more value for small businesses and the advisors who support them, as well as for our partners.

Why We’re Joining Forces

Melio was founded on a simple belief: paying and getting paid shouldn’t be a burden for small businesses. We set out to simplify the complex world of accounts payable and receivable—helping business owners save time, reduce manual work, and improve their cash flow.

Staying true to that mission, Melio quickly became one of the most innovative fintech companies in the world. Today, we process tens of billions of dollars in payments every year for businesses that pay or get paid by our solutions, along with thousands of accounting firms.

Now, we’re taking that mission to the next level by joining forces with Xero, a global small business platform that brings together the most important small business tools, including accounting, payroll and payments, on one platform. By combining Xero’s powerful cloud accounting platform with Melio’s innovative financial services, we can help advisors better support their clients and empower small businesses with a more robust set of tools to thrive.

Melio.com will continue to operate independently, supporting all small businesses in the U.S.—no matter which accounting software or ERP you use. Whether you’re using QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, or another accounting tool, Melio remains fully committed to serving you.

We also remain dedicated to our financial institution and vertical SaaS partners. We’ll continue deepening our support by enhancing our embedded advanced payable and receivable solutions, while expanding our reach through new and exciting partnerships.
