The challenge

Before adopting Melio, Cubepros relied on BILL’s payment platform that eventually proved a poor fit for their small-business clients. The platform’s performance was slow, and its workflow for paying a bill was cumbersome. Even if a bill was already in QuickBooks, Ryan’s team still needed to find the invoice in their inbox, convert it into a bill, and go through several steps to pay it. Ryan says he felt the platform was better suited to large companies with multi-department work approvals.

“If a client needed to quickly pay a bill without any fancy approvals, the workflow (record entry to bill payment) traditionally took several minutes and required multiple touch points,” said Ryan Balfe, President of Cubepros. “BILL offered a very good pricing model in the beginning, but rates started to increase as they pulled their focus away from SMBs and accounting partners.  A small business paying $100 a month noticed rates double almost overnight.”
