Andy Turner has 20-plus years of experience. He founded Turner Financial in 1999 in Greenfield, Indiana as a platform to help educate clients and agents about retirement, life insurance, and personal pension planning. In 2022, Andy was awarded Top 100 Insurance Marketer in the World.

What drove you to this industry?
My older brother brought me into this business at a young age. I was answering phones for him when I was in high school. My business has two sections. The first aspect of my business is recruiting and training agents to write life and annuities. The second piece of it is that I help clients locally, building my own book of business. I’m very passionate about helping people protect and not outlive their retirement.
What is your day-to-day workflow?
I talk to as many agents and clients as I can. The more agents I can train or clients I can help daily makes me extremely happy.
What are your goals for the future of your business?
I would love to expand my business to cover more lines than just life and annuities. It’s tricky because most new agents want a salary plus commission and finding investors for insurance-based businesses is pretty non-existent.

What inspires you as a business owner?
Helping people. We are educators, first and foremost. We believe every client should be informed about the products they’re placing their money into. Our goal is for our customers to feel confident and comfortable that they’re making the best decision financially. To that end, we include free educational resources on our website, such as PDFs on defining an annuity to tax information.
What advice would you give to your past self before opening your own business?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Take the small wins and know that not everything will work out.
